The Junior Med Tech students took the extra step to help support the LLS (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) foundation at the Walk of Light November 1. The students put in 114 hours of service that night and encouraged many people to fundraise for the cause.

Leukemia and Lymphoma usually affects young people and it attacks the white blood cells which is like cancer for those cells. Doctors are making progress on discovering medicine they can use to help with the disease. Leukemia has a 90/95% cure rate and professionals are so close to finding a cure.

“We raised a lot of money for the cause and everyone was really positive during the walk. The survivors got different color lanterns so we would know who they are. There was free food and just a lot of fun,” junior Catherine Geer said.

Med Tech students passed out t-shirts, handed out food and lanterns. The walk recognized all those fighting Leukemia and Lymphoma, and all those who beat it. Everyone who went lit up the sky with lanterns and lit up the lives that are suffering from LLS.
