As the season gets closer, the Girls’ Basketball team is starting to prepare for the season. The team has been having open gyms throughout the off season. During open gyms, they compete against their teammates in scrimmages. The girls have also been lifting in the weight room two times a week along with a group workout three times a week.
“We’re so excited. We’ve been working really hard and putting all our effort in this off season,” sophomore Kelsey Leamy said.
The team is getting ready for tough competition this year.
“I think our most challenging teams will be Southview and Perrysburg, but I’m sure we can keep up with them,” sophomore Chaley Sullins said.
Over the summer, the team competed in a summer league against the teams that they play during the regular season. They beat Southview and kept the score close in the game against Perrysburg, according to Sullins.
“I love all my teammates and our support for each other is going to take us far. I can’t wait to see what we bring on the court this season,” Leamy said.
Not only is the Varsity team getting ready for the season, the Junior Varsity team is preparing as well.
“I’m so excited to coach the JV girls. On a scale of one to ten, I’m a ten,” Coach Greg Slim said.
The season is approaching and tryouts are on October 26.
