Seniors prepare for Finance 101

For many seniors, it’s that time of the year when the plans for the future become a reality- including a glimpse at the rest of their lives.

On November 11, the senior class will be dismissed from their classes and will report to the Auxiliary Gym where they will participate in Finance 101.

Finance 101 is a day designated to teaching the seniors about the different financial demands which they may face throughout their life after high school. The event is put on by the Northwest Credit Unions and The Ohio Credit Union Foundation.

At the event, seniors will be assigned wages and pay bills, manage the costs of running a household, and make responsible decisions for any given outcome. The game will be set up like the game of Life and will put the players through different real-life situations; such as, what to do with money at specific times and how much children cost. The students will play the game using a deck of cards, a wheel, and dice.

“I think Finance 101 will help me learn how to manage my money in the future and how spending money irrationally can come with consequences,” senior Natalie Kujawa said.
