A sewer project by Sylvania’s Engineering Department is to close Central Avenue at McCord Road.

“The time is to be determined; it will happen sometime in mid to late October,” Sylvania’s Deputy Director of Engineering Joe Shaw said. “It will occur from a Saturday to a Tuesday,” he continued.

Central Avenue, also known as US 20/SR 120, carries around “40,000 vehicles per day.” According to Shaw, the closure is to happen because of a “sewer lining project”, in which the sewer line under Central will be upgraded. The detour will be posted by ODOT on I-475 in the coming weeks, and will use the new Dorr Street exit. McCord Road, however, will remain open with lane closures.
