As we dive into winter, so do Northview’s Swim and Dive teams. “We’ve had one meet where the girls 200 free relay was the fastest they’ve been since 2007 and only 2.5 seconds from the school record,” new Head Coach Hollis Williams said. “The boys had lots of best times, there are lots to look forward to.”
With all of the Covid-19 rule closures this year, NV has been struggling to continue to let sports practice, especially swim and dive. Right now, the swimmers can’t practice at the Northview pool, so getting together has been difficult. “They have to practice at YMCA’s and health clubs where they are exposed to lots more people than just their teammates. It’s also just super challenging to swim alone,” Coach Williams said.
The team is on the right path to do well when the LCHD pause is lifted. “The swimmers have really adapted to a new coach well and I have hopes of improvement for so many,” Coach Williams said. Their next scheduled meet, if the LCHD pause is lifted, is scheduled for January 13th at 5:30 at Northview.
