Shrek: The Musical created a “big, bright beautiful world” on stage in November.

“It was really awesome,” said freshman Nick Stahl, “I definitely want to come back to see more shows.”

Records were broken in ticket sales as well as an astonishing four out of five shows sold out.

“Northview’s shows normally get a good sized audience,” said junior Emily Vizina, “but especially since we added an extra show, it was a pleasant surprise selling out four out of our five shows. We got great reviews too, which is always nice.”

The show’s success wasn’t based solely on sales, but rather the joy that the ogre-whelming show brought to the audience. Support was seen all around the school and the Sylvania community preceding opening night, with constant encouragement to everyone involved in the production.

“The community’s support blew me away,” said sophomore Carly Radebaugh. “It made the Shrek experience even more amazing.”

Shrek had been in preparation for many months before the famous ogre took the stage. The dedication, talent, and community of the cast, crew, pit, and directing staff all contributed to pull off this top-notch production.

“It was one of the best shows Northview has ever put on,” said senior Maddy Phillips.

Miss the magic of the live theatre? There are two main stage productions each year, as well as Drama Club’s annual Winter One Acts scheduled to take place January 31-February 1. This spring’s production will be Our Town, and the show will run from April 10-13. Cast auditions and crew interviews are scheduled for January 27, from 3:00 – 6:00 pm.
