The school year would not be complete without the end of the year Senior Assembly. This year it was on May 27. This assembly is held to honor the seniors that are graduating, as well as to announance accomplishments and scholarships won by seniors. The seniors are all present in their caps and gowns and the rest of the school is also asked to dress up to honor their classmates that are graduating as well as the retiring teachers.

Temperatures in the gym became a bit too warm and did cause one student to become ill, eliciting permission from administration for all seniors to loosen up their robes and remove their caps if they were feeling overheated.

During the assembly, there were performances by both the Orchestra and senior choir members.

“I really enjoyed getting to perform with the other seniors in the choir in the style that the Harmony Road Show performs since I never was a part of that. I thought it was nice how the assembly wasn’t shortened even though we ran out of time,” senior Julia Messinger said.

Despite moving many awards to the All School Assembly May 15 the Senior Assembly did run over by about 15 minutes. However the situation was handled well, allowing underclassmen to leave to catch busses but keeping the seniors, their parents, presenters and anyone else who wanted to stay to finish honoring the seniors.

“This assembly made graduation way more real for me. It made me sad to realize that we are graduating so soon and that these are some of the last few days that the class of 2015 has together. I’m really going to miss Northview and all the amazing memories I made in my four years here,” senior Bekah Sigler said.

It was also a way for the underclassman to say a final goodbye to the seniors.

“I’m really going to miss the seniors next year. I’ve always looked up to many of them and I wish them the best of luck in all of their future endeavors,” junior Hailey Bies said.
