This past week has been all about scheduling, and thinking about your future not just for juniors but for sophomores as well. As third quarter continues on we get closer and closer to the end of the school year, counselors have been getting ahead of the game and started talking to everyone about scheduling.

The counselors have been visiting junior English classes to talk about college. They made a presentation about what to do to prepare for your application process, how to decide which college you want to go to and they even gave students helpful information about when there is going to be college fairs. The next one is at the University of Toledo on March 7, 6:30-8 pm.

They were helpful in letting the students know and understand that even though senior year is full of fun, it is no time to slack off with your course load or amount of extracurricular activities that you participate in. Colleges look at your senior year schedule to see how you pushed yourself as well as looking at your ACT/ SAT score, and GPA.

Juniors aren’t the only ones thinking about the future, on January 18, a career fair was held for the sophomores to help them figure out what they would be interested in pursuing next year in terms of classes.

The fair is a series of poster boards and booths with people encouraging different career paths that are an option for these students. Things such as Cosmetology, Engineering, and Construction were just some of the classes students could check out. There was something for everyone at this event.

Scheduling and thinking about the next step in your future can be frightening to think about, classes, tests, college, it can all be overwhelming and the counselors addressed this saying that first you need to breathe and relax because decision making is not best done under stressful circumstances. There is time and resources to help you get through the process and no matter where you end up you have to choose what is right for you.
